In the Komodo waters you can experience close encounters with what seems like an endless array of exotic wildlife, both on land and underwater. From giant manta rays, shimmering shoals of fish, a myriad of cryptic critters and of course the wold famous Komodo dragons. In Mermaid II’s most recent trip in October, among all the amazing encounters the ones that seem to stand out the most were with a beautiful juvenile spotted eagle ray and a giant napoleon wrass. Each species gave us a very up close and persona look at their unique and beautiful faces. The eagle ray with it’s ever-present smile below it’s shovel like nose and the napoleons googley-doll eye and tribal rainbow patterned cheeks. Two truly beautiful animals and two unforgettable experiences.
